OC World Receives 2 Nominations for the 74th Annual Golden Mike Awards®

February 12, 2024

“The Golden Mike Awards® is one of the oldest broadcast journalism awards show in America, and among the most distinguished with top journalists across America appointed as judges. Unlike most awards contests in which winners are determined by selecting which entry is the ‘best’ among all those submitted in each category, winners of the Golden Mike Awards® must also meet the ‘Standard of Excellence.’” – RTNA

OC World was nominated as a finalist in two categories: “Best Long Form Program or Documentary” for its program on the tragic bicycle accident that launched The Bradley Rofer Foundation, and “Best Editing of a Feature Story, Series or Special” for its program on artist Celia Herrera Rodriquez, whose work reflects ancestral memories that help some indigenous peoples find their way back home.

Both programs were produced by OC World, a nonprofit multimedia company founded by Scott Hays and Dr. Manuel Gomez.

Special recognition and gratitude go to OC World’s friends and supporters, including The Keith & Judy Swayne Family Foundation, Marisla Foundation, and Orange County Community Foundation.

The awards will be presented by the Radio & Television News Association (RTNA) of Southern California on 30 March 2024 at Universal Hilton Hotel. This year’s honorees for Lifetime Achievement Awards include KFI radio morning host Bill Handel, KCAL reporter Michele Gile, and KTLA reporter Eric Spillman.
