Former state Senator John Moorlach interviews Siyamak Khorrami, Chief Editor of The Epoch Times (Orange County). The Epoch Times is affiliated with the Falun Gong spiritual movement and was founded in 2000 as a way to respond to communist repression and censorship in China, according to the company’s website. It’s described in certain political circles as a far-right media company but declares itself as free from any government or political influences. The Orange County edition of the newspaper has a circulation of roughly 16,000 readers.

What’s the future of the Orange County Power Authority? Energy cooperatives such as OCPA are touted as California’s energy future, providing greener and sometimes cheaper power than the big utilities. OC World guest host Rick Reiff interviews two leaders of the OCPA — Fullerton Mayor Fred Jung, OCPA Chair; and Irvine Councilmember Kathleen Treseder, a climate scientist at UC Irvine and new Vice-Chair of OCPA — who admit the electric cooperative got off to a rocky start. But in this wide-ranging report, they also assert that they are transforming the embattled agency and working to gain the trust of current and potential customers.
