OC World wins Bronze for “Surviving the Trauma of Relationship Violence” in the category of General-Public Interest & Awareness at this year’s Annual Telly Awards. The program features Maricela Rios-Faust, CEO of Human Options, an Orange County agency serving victims and survivors of Relationship Violence. This program focuses on the experiences of those who lived through the cycle, and in some case, the intergenerational impact which leaves lingering trauma for victims and their children.

And Sweeps 'Best Video' Category! Dr. Manuel Gomez, Scott Hays, Joone Kim-Lopez. The OC World-produced documentary “Coastal Crisis: California’s Vanishing Beaches" received the coveted “Real O.C” award at this year’s OC Press Club’s Excellence in Journalism Awards Gala, held Thursday 15 June at the Anaheim Hills Golf Course. The “Real O.C.” award is given for the “story, review, feature, column, photo or broadcast video that best captures something special, surprising, telling, or essential about Orange County.” Second place was awarded to Voice of OC, third place and honorable mention to OC Register. OC World also swept the “Best Video” category with the following three programs: “From Hate to Healing,” "Hope Dies Last," and "To Live for the Harvest.” These documentary shorts and in-studio interviews are the results of the collaborative efforts of the OC World team: Manuel Gomez, Joone Kim-Lopez, Mike Moodian, Dan McKechnie, Ty Woodson and KLCS-PBS, Veronica Marquez, and so many others. The OC World produced documentary “Hope Dies Last” was awarded Best Long Form Programming or Documentary at the 73rd Annual Golden Mike Awards®. The Golden Mike Awards® is one of the oldest broadcast journalism awards show in America, and among the most distinguished with top journalists across America appointed as judges. Unlike most awards contests in which winners are determined by selecting which entry is the “best” among all those submitted in each category, winners of the Golden Mike Awards®" must also meet the “Standard of Excellence.” “Hope Dies Last” creates a narrative around the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on California communities, and the stories of families who find hope in the darkest of times. The other two OC World documentaries that were nominated as finalists in the same category were “To Live for the Harvest”—about the impact of COVID-19 on California farmworkers; and “Coastal Crisis”—about how local governments and residents are dealing with the issue of coastal erosion, and the consequences of inadequate action. OC World is proud to announce that “Coastal Crisis: California's Vanishing Beaches” earned the top honor (Best of Festival Award) at the 2022 Los Angeles Television, Script & Film Festival! "Coastal Crisis"—a documentary that explores the causes and effects of coastal erosion in California—debuted February 2022 on KDOC-TV and subsequently on PBS station KLCS. The documentary was an official selection of three other film festivals last year.
